Attempted murder, East Brisbane

Police have charged a man with attempted murder following an alleged assault of a woman in East Brisbane yesterday afternoon (September 5).

Investigations indicate at 2pm yesterday the 25-year-old East Brisbane woman was walking along Vulture Street when she was confronted by a man and attacked with a knife.

The woman sustained serious injuries as a result of this incident.

The pair were not known to each other.

Police conducted patrols of the area and arrested a 37-year-old East Brisbane man nearby.

He has been charged with attempted murder, going armed to cause fear and possessing a knife in public.

He will appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court tomorrow (September 7).
