August serious crash in Collie

Major Crash officers continue to investigate a serious crash that occurred in Collie on 3 August 2019.

A group of eight male youths were driving a purple Volvo 960 sedan in bushland off Collie-Williams Road. The vehicle bearing no registration plates, was towed on a trailer to the area the day before (2 August 2019).

About 9.30am, the 17-year-old male driver failed to negotiate a left hand bend, losing control of the vehicle which struck a tree.

The driver and three occupants received minor injuries and were treated at Collie Hospital.

A 17-year-old male who was a rear passenger in the Volvo, received serious spinal injuries and was airlifted by the RAC Rescue helicopter to Royal Perth Hospital.

Major Crash investigators are asking anyone who may have seen the purple Volvo prior to the crash, of have dash-cam vision of the area on the day, to come forward.
