The Australia Day long weekend is almost here for another year, with events and activities on offer across the Snowy Monaro from Saturday 24 January 2026 through the public holiday Monday 26 January 2026.
Council offices, libraries, community support services locations, and waste facilities across the region will be closed for the public holiday. Kerbside bin collections will proceed as scheduled.
The long weekend's events kick off in Bombala on Saturday 24 January 2026, with separate events in Bredbo, Cooma, Michelago, Nimmitabel and Jindabyne to follow on Monday 26 January 2026.
NSW Local Citizen of the Year Awards will be presented at ceremonies in Bombala, Cooma, and Jindabyne.
