Australia-India to collaborate on new and renewable energy technology

Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources

Australia and India will work together to drive down the costs of technologies that will help reduce global emissions. Minister Angus Taylor and the Hon'ble Minister Raj Kumar Singh signed the Letter of Intent on New and Renewable Energy Technology during the fourth India-Australia Energy Dialogue.

The Letter of Intent recognises a shared commitment from both nations. Collaboration will focus on tangible actions and projects including the manufacture and deployment of ultra low-cost solar and clean hydrogen.

Dr Alan Finkel AC brokered the agreement in his role as Special Adviser to the Australian Government on Low Emissions Technology. The Letter of Intent will support the aims of the Technology Investment Roadmap and the Long Term Emissions Reduction Plan.

This new collaboration builds on Australia's existing low emissions technology partnerships with Germany, Singapore, Japan, the Republic of Korea and the United Kingdom.
