Australia Post is calling on community organisations nationwide to apply for its Community Grants Program, following another successful year of supporting grassroots initiatives that foster social connection to help strengthen mental wellbeing and resilience in local communities across Australia.
Last year, Australia Post funded 88 projects under the Community Grants Program with grants totalling $705,555 awarded to not-for-profit organisations across all states and territories. More than half of the successful projects were in regional and remote areas and more than 40% of grants were allocated to support disaster-impacted communities.
Applications are now open for eligible not-for-profit groups seeking grants of up to $10,000. Australia Post has also ringfenced an additional $250,000 to fund initiatives helping communities recover, reconnect, and build resilience following natural disasters.
Australia Post General Manager, Community and Stakeholder Engagement, Nicky Tracey, said supporting local organisations is an important part of helping communities recover and rebuild after disaster events.
"Australia Post is proud of the role it plays in helping build stronger, more connected communities across Australia. We know that when disaster impacts a community, local organisations are the driving force behind bringing people together and supporting long-term wellbeing. With local knowledge and trusted relationships, they understand where support is needed most.
"Through Community Grants, Australia Post is continuing to back community-led projects that create stronger social connections, support mental wellbeing, and help communities move forward following disaster events," Ms Tracey said.
Since launching in 2019, Australia Post's Community Grants Program has awarded more than 530 grants to very worthy organisations nationwide.
