Collie is bracing for the arrival of Australia's premier quad bike riding event, with the country's best set to converge on the South-West town this October to battle it out for honours at the All Terrain Vehicle Motocross Nationals.

Australia's top riders - including Luke Gaisford, Chris Bosnakis, Jake Van Vliet, Cody Lincoln and Jae Dowsett - will compete for national titles at Collie's Stockton Park track on October 5-7, 2018.

The event will attract about 400-500 visitors to Collie, with 85 competitors, support staff, friends and family set to converge on the town for the weekend's action - including 25 interstate competitors and their teams.

Hosted in conjunction with the Collie Motorcycle Club, the weekend's action will feature a range of classes including the 50cc demo, pro championship, veterans championship and the women's championship.

The 1.6 kilometre track is set on the banks of the picturesque Stockton Lake, offering an ideal opportunity for spectators to camp at the on-site facilities, watch the racing events and enjoy Collie's natural surroundings.

The town's local tourism industry is set to benefit from the weekend's action, with local hotels, restaurants, bars and tourism operators all gearing up to take advantage of the influx of visitors.

As well as being the South-West's motorsports mecca, Collie's tourism offerings include mountain bike and bushwalking trails, freshwater fishing, a five-star James Halliday-rated winery and microbrewery, and many scenic swimming holes.

As stated by Sport and Recreation Minister Mick Murray:

"Collie is a proud motorsport town and we are delighted to have the country's best in our backyard to battle it out next month.

"This is a great opportunity for visitors to spend the weekend camping by the beautiful blue Lake Stockton, enjoying the events, and taking in all of the unspoilt natural surroundings that the region has to offer.

"With an absolutely top winery and microbrewery, scenic bushwalking, and some beautiful swimming spots, Collie is a gem of the State's South-West.

"The event will bring hundreds of visitors to the town, offering a real boost to local tourism, and helping to support jobs in a range of local businesses including bars, hotels, restaurants and other small businesses."
