The Government of Austria has renewed its partnership with the United Nations Development Programme, through a significant contribution of 1,219,000 EUR in core resources. This renewed collaboration comes at a time when global cooperation is more crucial than ever. The support will enable UNDP to accelerate sustainable development progress across 170 countries and territories, ensuring that resources are directed swiftly where they are needed most urgently.
This contribution will strengthen UNDP's work in addressing some of the world's most pressing global challenges, including climate action, nature conservation, poverty reduction, and advancing inclusive and accountable governance systems. As crises - from conflicts to climate disasters - continue to disrupt lives worldwide, core funding like this enables UNDP to respond quickly, to protect development gains, and to build resilience in fragile contexts. This funding is crucial to saving lives, protecting livelihoods, and maintaining developmental progress. UNDP's support to those in some of the hardest-hit areas, whether in Ukraine, Gaza, Western Balkans, Yemen, Ethiopia, Haiti and beyond - is made possible thanks to core funding. This flexibility allows UNDP to work with those who need help the most, precisely when they need it.
UNDP looks forward to continuing the close collaboration with Austria and our shared mission for a more equitable and prosperous world, where no one is left behind.
