Bayside Council is hosting a free author talk with author Koko Casey as she discusses her memoir STAY: From Flight Nurse to Patient.
STAY is an unflinching memoir of growth and resilience, recounting Koko Casey's journey surviving a routine medical retrieval turned into a tragic plane crash.
This will be a great opportunity to hear Koko's story as a trained international flight nurse, retrieving critically ill patients from around the world. On the night of the 18 November 2009, she flew her last mission, a mission she took on at the last minute to help bring back a critical patient from Samoa to Australia. In the face of an oncoming storm, Koko's jet ran out of fuel and would fall into the ocean off Norfolk Island. All passengers and crew survived, but as recounted in her memoir, Koko would suffer from chronic pain and PTSD for the next sixteen years.
Reclaiming her story, Koko Casey now works as a motivational speaker and researcher helping others experiencing post-trauma.
This free Author Talk takes place at the Eastgardens Library on Thursday 22 October from 6:30 to 7:30pm. Registration is essential.
