Awards for cream of crop in Queensland education

School communities from all corners of Queensland have been recognised for going above and beyond as part of the 2021 Showcase Awards.

Education Minister Grace Grace today announced the state finalists that have been chosen for innovative and effective ways of improving student outcomes.

"The Showcase Awards are all about shining a spotlight on our dedicated teachers, principals, leadership teams and school communities who are setting our students up for success," she said.

"In 2021, we received 94 nominations from 125 state schools, impacting more than 50,000 Queensland state school students.

"I commend the regional winners and all of the entrants this year for taking the time to share their amazing examples of quality education.

"I wish all our finalists the very best.

"The state award winners will be announced in an online presentation on October 29 which is also World Teachers' Day – how fitting!"

Ms Grace said the finalists have been chosen in 10 categories, ranging from excellence in inclusive education and school leadership, to rural and remote education.

"During these testing times with COVID-19, it's important to acknowledge the work our schools are doing to give all students access to a world-class education," she said.

"We have seen time and again over the last 18 months the dedication of our state school teachers and principals, particularly when it comes to remote learning.

"I couldn't be prouder of our Queensland state schools."

The 2021 awards program also gives award winners the chance to share $314,000 worth of development grants.
