ADVICE TO THE PUBLIC:

FLOODING IS OCCURRING IN THE TODD RIVER

Moderate to heavy rainfall over the upper catchment from around 0400 hrs, with 41mm recorded at Bond Springs and 9mm at Upper Bond Springs.

This resulted in the Todd River level rising and causing low level flooding.

The current weather situation is that a moist airmass and a surface trough can generate severe thunderstorms which are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Alice Springs.

As a consequence of this the following causeways remain closed:

• Schwarz Crescent

• Wills Terrace

• Tuncks Road

• Taffy Pick

• Palm Circuit

Access from Desert Springs and Mt Johns is via the Territory Generation access road.

Additional Information:

The catchment remains saturated, and river flows are likely to react rapidly if high intensity rainfall occurs.

Don't drive, walk, swim or play in floodwater because it is dangerous.
