Back to school: new year, new classrooms for Leanyer School

NT Government

Students at Leanyer will be celebrating new classrooms as they join thousands across the Territory in returning to school today.

A brand new building that includes four general learning areas and a teachers' space is now complete.

The $2 million facility was designed by Ashford Architects and constructed by C&R Constructions, both Territory companies.

The classrooms have improved acoustics, along with larger teaching and preparation spaces that will enhance learning and opportunity for early childhood students at the school.

The modern spaces also include innovative hearing augmentation features, which support children with hearing aids to fully participate and engage in education.

Calming colours, textures and natural furniture features have been used throughout the classrooms, and the age appropriate furniture configuration allow individual students and groups to choose how they wish to work, either seated or standing.

There is also a new adjoining outdoor wet area, so children can move from indoor to outdoor learning with fluidity.
