Backing Local Business and Boosting Territory Workforce

Local businesses are getting a leg up from the Territory Labor Government to fill critical worker shortages with the launch of a new Global Worker Attraction Campaign, the arrival of more Pacific workers and round two of the Work Stay Play incentive.

The Territory Labor Government announced its $12.8 million workforce package in February, to help fill critical skill shortages in sectors such as automotive, hospitality, education, aged care and disability services, health, construction, manufacturing as well as veterinary services.

As part of this package, the new Global Worker Attraction Campaign will kick off on 24 March. The campaign will call on skilled and semi-skilled workers, who are looking for a change to #movetotheTerritory.

Territory businesses can get involved by:

loading your jobs onto recruitment platforms such as Seek, CareerOne or Indeeddownloading the industry toolkit and raising awareness about opportunities for moving to the Territory for worksharing your job on social media using #movetotheTerritory

150 seasonal workers from Fiji and Timor-Leste will also arrive in Darwin and Alice Springs between now and the end of April, bolstering the Territory's tourism, hospitality, aged care, disability and agriculture workforces.

The workers have been recruited by Territory businesses through the Australian Government's Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) Scheme.
