More than 4,500 community organisations across Australia will be able to better support and attract volunteers thanks to an almost $10 million Albanese Labor Government investment under the 2025-26 Volunteer Grants round.
From coaching junior sport and supporting new parents to responding to emergencies and delivering vital community services, volunteers make an invaluable contribution to communities across Australia.
Over 4,500 not-for-profit community organisations will receive grants between $1,000 and $5,000 to go towards supporting volunteers and volunteer-run activities in local communities.
These grants help break down the barriers to volunteering, with organisations able to use their funding for items like communication devices, insurance, accessibility equipment, training, volunteer screening checks and reimbursing fuel or transport costs.
Volunteer Grants are making a real difference on the ground, with recipients from previous rounds reporting funding has helped them better train and retain their volunteers and reduced their out-of-pocket expenses.
Organisations set to benefit from this funding include:
- local sporting clubs and recreational groups
- community and welfare organisations
- multicultural and culturally diverse community organisations
- community groups supporting new parents and families
- emergency service and disaster response organisations
- health and wellbeing organisations

Recognising the important role volunteers play across Australia, the Australian Government has invested over $91 million since July 2022 to strengthen the volunteering sector and ensure it can continue to thrive.
