Balancing Scales on International Women's Day

In celebration of International Women's Day, women and girls in Casey are invited to share their reflections on helping to create a safer and more equitable community by contributing to the City of Casey's Balancing Wall.

This year's theme, 'Balance the Scales', recognises that gender inequality still exists in everyday systems and structures, and the scales are not yet balanced for many women and girls.

Over the next two weeks, the City of Casey is hosting Balancing Wall events at Connected Library branches across Casey, where women and girls can share their own reflections and everyday actions that address gender inequality.

City of Casey Deputy Mayor, Cr Michelle Crowther said Council is committed to listening to women's voices and taking a lead on local action to support a safer and fairer society for all.

"The voices, stories, and lived experience of women and girls matter and are central to shaping a fairer, safer, and more equitable community," Cr Crowther said.

"Everyone has a role to play in 'balancing the scales', and small, practical actions in homes, workplaces, and community spaces can drive meaningful change.

"We are inviting women and girls in our community to share their reflections on how gender inequality shows up in daily life and share their ideas for practical steps we can all take to contribute to a fairer, safer and more equitable community."

The Balancing Wall activation will be hosted at Bunjil Place Library, Endeavour Hills Library, Hampton Park Library, Cranbourne Library, Doveton Library, Cranbourne West Library Lounge and Clyde Township Library Lounge from Sunday 8 March to Sunday 29 March.

International Women's Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. IWD 2026 is on Sunday 8 March.
