Balga Assault in Update, WA

Mirrabooka Detectives investigating the assault of a nine year old boy in Balga on Monday, 3 July 2017 are seeking the public’s assistance to identify a man who they believe can assist with their inquiries.

Around 3:30pm, the boy was playing with his brother at the Barry Britton Reserve on Balga Avenue. An unknown man approached the boys and as they walked away the man grabbed the nine year old boy on the arm before striking him on the side of his head. The boy screamed causing the man to run away and he was last seen walking quickly down Emsworth Way, WA Police say.

The offender is described as fair skinned, around 50 years old with a medium to solid build, approximately 180cm tall, medium length grey or brown hair and an unshaven face. He was wearing a dark coloured jacket and black rectangular sunglasses.

Detectives would like to speak to the man in the attached photo who was in the area around the time of the incident and who they believe can assist them with their inquiries.

Police would like the man or anyone who can identify him to contact Crime Stoppers.
