Bathurst Health Service thanks Dr Haloob for more than a decade of service for locals with kidney-related illness.

Bathurst Health Service is acknowledging the dedication of renal physician Dr Imad Haloob after more than a decade of service, following the announcement of his retirement this month.

Bathurst Health Service General Manager, Jo Holden, thanked Dr Haloob for the personable care he extended to the Bathurst community, and in particular to local residents with kidney-related illness who receive dialysis at the Bathurst Dialysis Unit.

"On behalf of his patients and the staff here at Bathurst, I want to wish Dr Haloob the very best in his retirement," Ms Holden said.

Ms Holden said recruitment for a Bathurst-based nephrologist (kidney specialist) was underway and, in the interim, patients will continue to receive high-quality renal care with the assistance of visiting nephrologists from nearby Orange Health Service.

"We wish to reassure the community, and Dr Haloob's patients, that they will continue to have access to the same high quality care in the Bathurst clinic during these temporary arrangements," Ms Holden said.

If a patient with renal disease becomes unwell, the visiting nephrologist will decide if they are best suited to have their dialysis in Bathurst, or in Orange, based on their specific clinical need.

"We are actively recruiting to this role and will continue to do so until we have been able to locate a suitable candidate," Ms Holden said.

"We apologise for any inconvenience for our patients, but we are working hard to continue to provide the care they need."
