Baw Baw Shire Council Extends Acting CEO Term

Baw Baw Shire Council has today announced the formal extension of Mr Mick Cummins as the organisation's Acting Chief Executive Officer until 2 January 2026.

Council voted to extend the temporary leadership role to Mr Cummins during this afternoon's Council Meeting.

Mr Cummins commenced with Baw Baw Shire Council in June 2025 following an extensive career in Local Government, where he has held several Executive roles including most recently, where he served as the CEO of Bayside City Council for seven years.

Since joining Baw Baw, Mr Cummins has used his strong track record of transformative change and implementation of pragmatic strategies to support our Finance and Corporate Strategy teams.

Baw Baw Shire Mayor Councillor Kate Wilson thanked Mr Cummins for supporting the organisation through this period while Chief Executive Officer Tilla Buden undergoes treatment and recovery following a recent breast cancer diagnosis.

"Council is committed to supporting Tilla every step of her journey as she focusses on her health and wellbeing, and we thank Mr Cummins for accepting this extension to lead our organisation through to 2 January 2026," Cr Wilson said.

"The Councillor group will continue to work through longer-term logistics and organisational impacts, and will keep all staff and the wider community informed of any developments."
