Bayside Celebrates Diwali

Bayside Council is getting ready to celebrate its first ever Diwali with a vibrant night festival featuring dazzling light displays, authentic cuisine and cultural performances showcasing the richness of Indian culture.

The celebration will include Bollywood dancing and cultural performances, henna art, craft workshops, rangoli displays, authentic Indian cuisine and sweet treats, Diwali crafts for children, as well as Dhol drummers and roaming performers.

Attendees are encouraged to wear their brightest clothes for an unforgettable evening filled with light, culture and celebration that will take place in King Street Mall, King Street, Market Street and King Lane in Rockdale.

Stallholders wanting to be part of this festival are invited to submit an Expression of Interest before Friday 5 September 2025.

To accommodate the festivities Market Street, King Street and King Lane in Rockdale will be closed to traffic.

Rockdale train station and bus stops are a short walk away and the use of public transport is encouraged.

This event is proudly funded by the NSW Government's Permit/Plug/Play Pilot Program led by Transport for NSW.

"Bayside's first Diwali Festival will be a wonderful occasion for family and friends to come together for a memorable night that will light up Rockdale's town centre.

"It is also part of Council's ongoing plan to reinvigorate our town centres and provide more opportunities for late night trading and entertainment," Mayor Edward McDougall said.
