Bayside Citizen Of Year Nominations Open

Nominations for the 2026 Bayside Citizen of the Year Awards are now open, giving residents an opportunity to acknowledge the extraordinary contribution local 'heroes' have made to the Bayside community.

The Awards recognise exceptional individuals and their achievement in the areas of community services, charitable work, education/school development, environment, arts and culture, sport, or humanitarian initiatives.

The 2026 Award Categories are Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year and Sportsperson of the Year.

Nominations close on Friday 7 November 2025 and the Awards will be presented as part of Council's 2026 Australia Day program.

Last year Fred Poole was named Bayside Citizen of the Year 2025 in recognition of his work as President of the Bayside Men's Shed leading a team of dedicated volunteers working on projects benefitting the local community.

Jessica Henville was named Sportsperson of the Year for her achievements and volunteer work in Surf Life Saving, touch football and netball.

Princess Delany was awarded the Young Citizen of the Year for her community work with the Salvation Army and her involvement in NSW Youth Parliament Program.

Bayside Mayor Edward McDougall said

"Our Bayside Citizen of the Year Awards are part of Council's Australia Day program, and they provide a great opportunity to celebrate local heroes for the contribution they have made to our community," Mayor Edward McDougall said.
