Bayside Historical Marker Program

The second round of the Bayside Historical Marker program has identified five sites that will be recognised with historical markers following Council's endorsement at the Council Meeting on Wednesday 25 February.

The five sites that will be recognised in 2026 are the Botany Literacy Institute (now operating as John Brotchie Nursery School), the Botany Fire Station, Bruce Mackenzie at Sir Joseph Banks Park, the site of the former Earl Park in Arncliffe and Lydham Hall in Rockdale.

A total of 13 nominations for 11 locations were received and assessed by a panel in accordance with the Historical Marker Policy.

Bayside Council's Historical Marker Program was launched February 2024 and saw five markers successfully installed at Wilson's Farmhouse in Rockdale, Botany Public School, the Former Sir Joseph Banks Hotel, Banksmeadow, Bexley Public School, Tempe House in Wolli Creek.
