Bennett Springs Out of Control Gathering

Police were made aware of a party being planned at a residence on Wintergreene Drive in Bennett Springs with a large number of people anticipated to attend.

Police spoke with the 21-year-old organiser who advised them that less than 90 people would be attending.

The owner of the Airbnb was notified of the party who requested police assistance in removing the party-goers as there was no authority given for such a gathering.

Police received several calls from local residents in relation to disturbances at the property. Regional Operations Group officers and local police attended to disperse the party-goers and over 200 people exited the property.

As the crowd was dispersing, fights broke out amongst party-goers and they began throwing rocks at Police. A car belonging to a local resident was struck by a rock causing a large dent.

At 9.55pm, Police declared the party an Out of Control Gathering, with officers continuing to disperse the crowd out of the area.

No charges have been laid by police at this time but inquiries are ongoing.
