$7.5 million in State Recovery Plan funds has been allocated to Bentley Technology Park upgrades, which will see the creation of 35 full-time construction jobs.

The contract to upgrade the facilities has been awarded to OPRA Group Australia Pty Ltd, trading as OPRA Projects. OPRA Projects are a Perth based contractor specialising in workplace fit-outs for local, national and international clients.

The works will see the current Brodie Hall Function Centre transition into an innovation hub and co-working space in addition to a function and event space. Works will include significant improvements to audio visual equipment to enable state-of-the-art video conferencing and digital communications.

The project will also include transitioning the building to net-zero involving the installation of a 116 kWp solar PV system and 330kWh battery storage. Two free-to-use 22kWh medium speed electric vehicle chargers have also been installed.

The 12.6 hectare Technology Park land and assets were moved under the control of the Industrial Lands Authority in 2020 as part of the State Government's election commitment to remove barriers to investment and drive development.

The State Government is driving industry engagement and attracting businesses into the park to underpin Western Australia's positioning in innovative science, technology enterprises and creative learning.

As stated by Lands Minister John Carey:

"This is an exciting step in making Bentley Technology Park an innovative, creative and collaborative centre of excellence in science, technology, education and research - supporting the State's economic growth through the development and commercialisation of ideas into sustainable enterprises.

"It's also great to see sustainability and renewable energy at the forefront of the redevelopment project, as we strive to achieve net zero by 2050, and encourage positive change in the community as well.

"This project is part of the McGowan Government's $5.8 billion WA Recovery Plan, and will create around 35 full-time jobs during the construction.

"As a Perth-based contractor specialising in workplace fit-outs for local and global clients, OPRA Projects are well placed to deliver this transformative project that will enhance Bentley Technology Park."
