Griffith Regional Art Gallery (GRAG) presents the Gallery in Miniature, a delightful pop-up project that showcases artworks by participants of the gallery's youth program Smarty Kids.
Located within the gallery front counter, this dainty display of work will be open for public viewing until Sunday 19 July, 2026.
With the artworks inspired by the gallery's recent community exhibition theme Roots and Reflections, the young artists collaborated to produce a playful and thoughtful collection of miniature artworks that reflect their ideas of place, people and belonging. Working at a small scale encouraged close attention to detail and imagination, resulting in a collection of paintings, sculptures and drawings.
Gallery Coordinator Melanie Toscan said the project was met with great enthusiasm from participants.
"The children loved working on the gallery of miniature artworks. The Smarty Kids program, led by programs officer Isis-Rae Ronan cultivates creativity and in this case community," she said. Participants worked together and shared their experience with the chosen theme to create something truly magnificent to see."
The Gallery in Miniature has transformed an everyday space into a miniature experience that can be enjoyed by any person of any size, celebrating young voices and community connections. Positioned at the gallery's front counter, all patrons are greeted with the display.
