With forecasts of big seas predicted to build across the north coast this weekend and into next week, there could be more erosion on some beaches in the Byron Shire.
Beaches at Suffolk Park, New Brighton and South Golden Beach were badly eroded during Ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred, and more sand could be stripped from these areas in coming days.
This means that beach access paths may drop off steeply and the dunes could become unstable.
Members of the public are asked to be aware of the potential for erosion, big seas and changed conditions to pathways when going to the beach in coming days.
People should also stay away from the foot of sand dunes.
Council's Open Space team will be inspecting beach accessways and closing them if necessary.
