Big Things Are Taking Shape At Fairfield Showground

Fairfield Showground Design.

Fairfield Showground has long been one of our City's most important community gathering places, and Council continues to invest in its future to ensure it remains a destination for generations to come.

That future was on full display last week when the Showground hosted the Hahn Australia Cup Quarter Final match between SD Raiders and Sydney FC, attracting thousands of passionate football fans from across Sydney. The exciting fixture showcased the Showground's ability to host major sporting events and demonstrated why this iconic venue continues to play such an important role in our community.

As we celebrate events like these, we are also looking ahead to the next chapter in the Showground's evolution.

Council is progressing plans for the new Fairfield Showground Community and Events Centre, a transformative project valued at approximately $60 million that will further strengthen the Showground's position as a central hub for community, cultural, sporting and entertainment activities. The centre is being designed as a modern, multipurpose facility capable of hosting large-scale events, indoor sports, exhibitions and community gatherings, creating new opportunities for residents, visitors and local businesses alike.

In preparation for this significant investment, early works are now underway across parts of the Showground. These works will improve access and support infrastructure needed to bring the project to life. During this period, residents and visitors may notice changed traffic conditions, temporary detours, overflow parking arrangements, construction activity and access adjustments around the site.

I encourage everyone visiting the Showground to follow all traffic signage and directions in place and thank you for your patience while these important works are carried out. While there may be some short-term inconvenience, these upgrades represent a long-term investment in our City's future and will help create a vibrant community destination that can host major events and serve our growing population for many years to come.
