Bigger And Better Classrooms For Koonung Secondary

  • Minister for Education

Students in Mont Albert North will soon enjoy new modern learning spaces and have access to the first-rate school facilities they deserve, thanks to the Andrews Labor Government.

Minister for Education James Merlino and Member for Box Hill Paul Hamer today visited Koonung Secondary College to announce a $6.05 million investment as part of the Victorian Budget 2019/20 to upgrade the school.

This project will include demolishing and rebuilding the college's main classroom wing to deliver modern facilities for students and staff.

The next step will be appointing an architect, who will work on a design that best meets the needs of students and staff at Koonung Secondary College.

This project is part of a record $1.82 billion investment into Victoria's education infrastructure in this year's State Budget - delivering on the Government's promise to make Victoria the Education State.

The Labor Government will open 100 new schools by 2026, ensuring every Victorian child has a great local school with exceptional teachers.

The Government has invested $5.6 billion in delivering more than 1,400 school upgrades and supporting almost 5,000 construction jobs.

As noted by Minister for Education James Merlino

"I'm pleased we are able to provide these modern learning spaces for the students at Koonung Secondary College. These facilities will help teachers teach, and help students reach their full potential."

"Projects like this are an investment in current students as well as the next generation of students to pass through these doors."

Quote to be attributed to Member for Box Hill Paul Hamer

"Every student deserves access to modern school facilities. That's what we're going to deliver for the Koonung Secondary College community."
