Bigger, better gymnasium for Birralee Primary School

Liberal Party Victoria

A Matthew Guy Liberals and Nationals Government will transform the facilities at Birralee Primary School and provide $7.6 million to deliver a new gymnasium.

Birralee Primary School currently does not have an indoor space sufficient for many activities and the existing hall is no longer adequate for the size of the school, which has grown from fewer than 200 students in 2014 to more than 600 in 2022.

The new gymnasium building will include a basketball and netball court, with the flexibility to serve as an event and performance space for the school community. It will also include change rooms and toilets, a music room, and a replacement school canteen.

Leader of the Opposition and Member for Bulleen, Matthew Guy said the investment would transform the existing space and provide a positive learning environment.

"After two years of interrupted learning, it's more important than ever to invest in our schools, have the best facilities possible and encourage students to get active," he said.

"Birralee Primary School has been constantly overlooked by Labor and only a Liberals and Nationals Government will deliver the upgrades it deserves."
