Bill Shorten says Joe Bullock to be replaced by Pat Dodson

Bill Shorten has nominated indigenous leader Pat Dodson as a replacement for outgoing Labor senator Joe Bullock, who last night quit parliament, citing his inability to support the Labor Party's position requiring MPs to vote in favour of what he called 'homosexual marriage'.

The Opposition Leader said Pat Dodson would contribute “unmatched intelligence and integrity” to the federal caucus.

“His advocacy and perspective will challenge all of us to face up to our shortcomings,” Mr Shorten said.
