Bland Shire Council welcomes Director of Technical Services

Bland Shire Council General Manager Grant Baker is pleased to announce the permanent appointment of Raymond Sexton as Council's Director of Technical Services.

Raymond has been acting in the role since January 2025 and brings with him a wealth of international and local experience across infrastructure, project management and community development having worked in Ireland, America, England, and Australia.

"Raymond's passion, pragmatic approach and work ethic have been evident from day one," Mr Baker said. "He's proven himself a capable and thoughtful leader who brings both technical expertise and a real understanding of what matters to our community."

Raymond describes his leadership style as approachable, fair and grounded, he says his focus will be on trust, teamwork and keeping things in perspective.

"I'm a firm believer in not sweating the small stuff and in the end, it's all small stuff," Raymond said. "The important thing is listening to people, building trust and making practical decisions that deliver the best results for the community."

With almost two decades of experience working in post-conflict resolution in Ireland and Northern Ireland, Raymond brings valuable insight into relationship building, communication and leading through change, skills he says are central to delivering great outcomes for Council and the community.

Mayor Brian Monaghan said Council is delighted to have Raymond officially join the leadership team.

"Raymond has already made a real difference in his time here," Cr Monaghan said. "He's approachable, community-minded and has a great sense of balance, the kind of leader who gets things done while bringing people along with him."

Raymond is looking forward to continuing his work across the Shire, tackling the challenges ahead and supporting Council's goal of delivering excellence in services and infrastructure.
