Body found after Elderslie house fire

An investigation is underway after a body was found following a house fire in Sydney's south west overnight.

Emergency services were called to Crank Place, Elderslie, about 11.40pm (Saturday 1 June 2019), following reports of a house fire.

Fire & Rescue NSW officers attended and worked to extinguish the blaze.

Once the fire was extinguished, a body was located inside the home.

The body is yet to be formally identified.

Police have been told there were several people inside the home at the time. They were all treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to hospital for smoke inhalation.

Two officers also attended hospital for smoke inhalation.

Officers from Camden Police Area Command established a crime scene, which is being examined by specialist forensic officers.

Detectives are treating the fire as suspicious and urging anyone with information that may assist with their inquiries to come forward.
