Body found in search for missing man at Mildura

A body has been found by people searching for man missing after a boat capsized in the Murray River.

Officers attached to Barrier Police District were told that four men were in a dinghy about 11.30pm Saturday (18 February 2023), heading to shore when the boat capsized.

Officers from Barrier Police District have been told three of the men returned to the houseboat,

About 2.40am (Sunday 19 February 2023), emergency services were called Dockside Drive, Mildura, after the group realised the 34-year-old man was missing.

A large-scale multiagency search commenced, led by Victoria Police and NSW Police, with assistance from NSW Police divers.

A body was located about 1325 today (Monday 20 February 2023) within the Murray River by the NSW Police divers.

While the body is yet to be formally identified, it is believed to be that of the missing man.

Officers from Barrier Police District will prepare a report for the information of the Coroner.
