Investigations are continuing after a house was destroyed by fire in the state's mid-west earlier this week.
About 6.40pm on Tuesday (25 June 2025), emergency services were called to a home on Mendooran Road, Brocklehurst about 10km north of Dubbo, following reports of a fire.
NSW Rural Fire Services officers found the house well alight, and worked to extinguish the blaze; however, the home was destroyed, and the structure collapsed.
A resident, believed to be a man in his 60s, was unaccounted for.
A crime scene was established by officers attached to Orana Mid-Western Police District.
Following an extensive forensic examination of the home, a body of a man was located.
While the body is yet to be formally identified, it is believed to be that of the resident.
A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
