An investigation is underway after a body was found in bushland near Lithgow.
As part of an ongoing investigation, police – assisted by detectives from Chifley Police District – commenced a search of bushland near Newnes Plateau, north of Lithgow, with a body located late yesterday (Saturday 7 November 2026),
A post-mortem examination will be conducted in coming days to determine the cause of death.
Until family of the deceased have been spoken to by police, the identity will not be confirmed.
A crime scene has been established and investigations under Strike Force Pevani – assisted by detectives from State Crime Command's Homicide Squad – are continuing.
