Boko Haram take over 5 communities, kill 13 in Nigerian state of Borno

- At least five communities of Ladin Buta near Khaddamari village of Jere Local Government Area of Nigeria's Borno state have been taken over and destroyed by suspected members of dreaded Boko Haram sect who were armed with Ak47 rifles and petrol bombs including improvised explosive devices (IEDs), Vanguard reports citing sources.

Jere Council headquarters is north east and just about 7 km drive from Maiduguri, the state capital.

This development is coming barely three days after two out of the five displaced emirs of Askira/Uba Local Government Area returned to their domain after spending two years in Maiduguri due to Boko Haram attacks.

The sect members, according to reliable security source and residents, invaded the communities on Tuesday, May 24 evening and set ablaze many houses after killing 13 residents and injuring scores of others.
