Wingecarribee Shire Council is proud to support the NSW Seniors Festival with a diverse range of events and activities that celebrate the contribution seniors make to our community.
The 2023 program of events is now available with bookings set to open at 9 am on Wednesday 4 January 2023.
Council’s Community Development Officer, Ms Meredith Lea, urged prospective attendees to view the program ahead of bookings opening.
“For anyone thinking of joining us, we’d recommend you have a look at the program beforehand to see what events you’re interested in attending and book early to avoid disappointment.”
Official events begin on Wednesday 1 February with a day trip to Mussett Holdings Farm and visit to Wariapendi Native Nursery, amongst other events. The festival will close on Sunday 12 February with the Southern Highlands Concert Band playing at Mittagong RSL Club.
“A highlight of this year’s festival is a Planning for the rest of your life information day at Council’s Moss Vale Civic Centre on Wednesday 8 February,” said Ms Lea.
“Participants can register to join us for the full day or attend particular sessions that interest them.
“We’ll have guest speakers from Services Australia, Service NSW, Palmer Legal and End of Life Angels and lots of opportunities for questions and answers.”
Returning for this year is the option of online bookings through Council’s website.
“We know most older people are confident computer users and having all the events online allows them to browse events and activities at a time that’s convenient for them,” Ms Lea said. “However, we’re still more than happy to take bookings in person or over the phone.”
With the theme of this year’s Seniors Festival being Celebrate Together, the aim of this year’s program is to encourage social interaction and connection within our community.
Wingecarribee Shire Council’s Seniors Festival is presented in conjunction with community supporters and the NSW Government.
All events are either free or via gold coin donation.
