Boost For Aged Care In Deloraine

Department of Health

Older Tasmanians in Northern Tasmania will soon have greater access to aged care close to home, with the Australian Government investing nearly $18 million to build a new residential aged care wing at Grenoch Home, Deloraine.

The funding will support the construction of a new 40-bed wing, expanding the facility's capacity and ensuring older Tasmanians receive the care they need while remaining close to home and connected to their family, friends and community.

Tasmania has received more than $31 million in funding to expand and upgrade services at six aged care facilities across the state, improving access to modern facilities, more beds and specialised care.

The funding is part of a $300 million national boost through the Aged Care Capital Assistance Program (ACCAP), which is improving access to high-quality residential care and housing for aged care workers in regional areas.

This government has now invested more than $1 billion in aged care capital through ACCAP - more than any previous government, and we'll continue to invest in aged care supply as our ageing population grows.

The Australian Government is on a mission to deliver more beds, faster and in the places, they are most needed - so older Australians and their loved ones have confidence that they can be cared for with dignity, when they need it.

We want every older Australian to access the care they need and get it sooner and closer to home.
