CANBERRA, ACT Boresight, Australia's leading developer of aerial target drone systems, welcomes the release of the 2026 National Defence Strategy (NDS) and the Albanese Government's $7 billion investment in counter drone defence, as landmark endorsements of the sovereign capabilities the company has been building in Canberra for years.
The NDS identifies integrated air and missile defence, counter-uncrewed aerial systems, and autonomous platforms as priority investment areas for the Australian Defence Force.
It also explicitly commits to new and continued investment in counter-small uncrewed aerial systems for domestic and deployable use.
This is precisely the threat environment that Boresight's aerial target drones are engineered to replicate and train against.
"The 2026 NDS makes clear that Australia's air defence capabilities must be credible, practiced, and sovereign," said Justin Olde, Managing Director of Boresight. "You cannot develop world-class counter-drone and missile defence operators without high-fidelity, locally available aerial targets. That's exactly what we deliver."
The strategy strongly emphasises sovereign industrial resilience and reducing critical dependencies on overseas supply chains. This further strengthens the case for procuring training systems domestically.
The Albanese Government announced it will more than double investment in counter drones for the Australian Defence Force (ADF) with up to $7 billion allocated under the Integrated Investment Program (IIP) over the next decade.
Boresight's Canberra-based design, manufacturing, and support operations directly align with the Government's stated policy objectives.
With the NDS committing significant new defence investment across the coming decade, Boresight stands ready to partner with Defence to ensure ADF personnel are trained, prepared, and lethal against the aerial threats Australia faces.
