White Ribbon Australia

Wednesday, 24 June 2020 – Communicare is pleased to announce the appointment of Brad Chilcott as Executive Director of White Ribbon Australia.

Mr Chilcott is one of Australia's most successful campaigners for social change and justice, with close to a decade's experience leading non-government organisations.

Prior to his appointment, Mr Chilcott was the Founder and National Director of Welcoming Australia and has been a public advocate for mental health, LGBTIQA+ rights, international aid and education. He sits on the Board of Reconciliation SA and the Advisory Board of the Community Refugee Sponsorship Initiative. Mr Chilcott was the founding Convenor of the Family and Domestic Violence Advocacy Network in South Australia.

Communicare Chief Executive Officer Melissa Perry said the organisation is delighted to appoint Mr Chilcott to lead the next chapter of White Ribbon Australia.

"Brad is deeply respected across the community, government and private sectors, and his leadership in the Australian community has been recognised by the Australia Day Council and former Prime Minister Julia Gillard.

"His track record of working at the frontline of social change and developing national campaigns to help the disadvantaged will bring renewed direction to the White Ribbon movement and its vision to prevent all forms of gendered violence," Ms Perry said.
