Brand-new men's Shed opens up

Broadford Men's Shed has officially opened its new shed which will offer men throughout Mitchell Shire the chance to come together and socialise, build on trade skills and provide quality programs for the community.

Mitchell Shire Council assisted in managing the construction of this facility with the Victorian Government contributing $60,000 through the Department of Human and Health Services Men's Shed Program.

The new facility will cater to an increase in membership, participation from schools and community groups and will be located centrally in the Broadford Community precinct. The old facility was housed out of a small garage with only 10 members and little to no capacity to extend on this

The space will now be a multi-purpose, all abilities shed which aims to bring men from all walks of life together.

The Broadford Men's Shed identified the need for a facility where men can participate and enjoy each other's company all the while reducing concerns and social isolation.

While bringing people together, the shed will strengthen connections and understandings between cultures and generations alike.

The Broadford Men's Shed is now located on the site of the community garden and directly behind the Broadford Living and Learning Centre and Police Station.

The Men's Shed project will enable men in our community to embark upon a new era of innovative thinking and creative programs and foster pride in their work.

"Thanks again to the Victorian Government without your funding and support, this wonderful facility could not have been opened. Again, congratulations to the Broadford Men's Shed and we cannot wait to see more members.
