Break and enter, assault police - Broadbeach

A 43-year-old Mitchelton man has been charged after he allegedly broke in to a fire station at the Gold Coast early today.

At 10am, police will allege the man broke into the Surfers Paradise QFRS building on the Gold Coast Highway with the intention of stealing property.

The man was confronted by staff at the address who detained him and called for police to attend.

The man broke free and police located him a few streets away where it will be alleged the man assaulted a police officer by kicking him.

The man has been charged with break and enter, wilful damage, assault police and two counts of obstruct police.

He will appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on Monday, July 10.
