BreastScreenNT Bus Millie Set for Final Tour in 2026

NT Government

From the main drag to the desert, our iconic BreastScreenNT bus, Millie, has spent more than 10 years providing dedicated service to thousands of adoring fans across the Territory.

In 2026, Millie will take her final tour, being carried across the Northern Territory in a vision of pink, glitz and glamour (like the absolute passenger princess she is), completing her remarkable legacy of delivering vital breast screen services and access in some of the most remote communities.

Performing her last screenings, Territory women will have the chance to share a moment, a memory and a mammogram to bid farewell to our beloved icon before she reaches the end of her "extinguished" career on the NT stage.

In preparation for Millie's retirement, plans are underway for a purpose-built model to be developed to meet service delivery requirements.

Millie's show may be coming to an end but don't let the curtain close on yours. Screening could be your encore.

Breast cancer remains the most common cancer in Territory women, with more than 130 people diagnosed with early stage or invasive breast cancer each year.

In 2025, 45 women were diagnosed with breast cancer in the Territory by BreastScreenNT.

Women aged between 40 and 74 are recommended to get a breast screen every 2 years, as an early diagnosis can lead to better treatment outcomes.

As part of Millie's annual Territory schedule, she will begin her trip at Parliament House in Darwin between 27 April and 1 May before heading to Groote Eylandt.

Millie's final journey will see her rack up a total of 12,000 kilometres, visit 9 communities, and most importantly, provide life-changing health service to approximately 1000 women.

Millie's achievements:

o Total number of women screened: 11,926 (not including 2026)

o Total number of women diagnosed with breast cancer by BreastScreenNT: 84

o Total number of education activities delivered: over 1,000 activities

o Total number of kilometres travelled on road: 86,639

o Total number of nautical kilometres on barge: 18,324

Territorians can make an appointment with Millie now by calling BreastScreenNT on 13 20 50.
