Ballarat families are invited to celebrate Children's Week 2025 with a day of fun, creativity and connection at the Bridge Mall this Saturday.
The free community event will transform Bridge Mall into an even more vibrant hub of activity, with interactive workshops, live entertainment, creative arts, and hands-on experiences for children of all ages.
From music and dance performances to craft stations, storytelling, and outdoor play spaces, the celebration promises something for everyone. The Bridge Mall will be blocked to traffic for the event.
Children's Week is an annual national celebration of children's rights, talents and citizenship.
This year's theme of "Everyone Should Know About Children's Rights!" promotes awareness of children's rights under the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC).
City of Ballarat Mayor, Cr Tracey Hargreaves said the Bridge Mall event would be a highlight of Ballarat's 2025 Children's Week calendar and reflected the Council's ongoing commitment to nurturing happy, healthy and resilient young people.
"Children's Week is all about celebrating the incredible contribution young people make to our city," Cr Hargreaves said.
"The Bridge Mall event is a fantastic example of how we can bring families together in a welcoming, playful environment, tying in beautifully to our Municipal Early Years Plan, which focuses on creating opportunities for young people to connect, learn and thrive."
The City of Ballarat Municipal Early Years Plan sets out a vision for Ballarat as a city where children and young people feel valued, heard and empowered.
It highlights the importance of spaces and programs that encourage creativity, participation and belonging, all of which are principles that underpin every activity planned for Children's Week.
Cr Hargreaves said the event would also showcase the newly revitalised Bridge Mall precinct as a family-friendly destination.
"This is a place for our community to come together and what better way to celebrate that than through the laughter and energy of our youngest residents," she said.
Children's Week events across Ballarat will run from 18-26 October 2025, with the Bridge Mall celebration as the centrepiece. The event will run from 10am-2pm on Saturday 18 October.
