Visitors to Shire libraries can now enjoy refreshed and more welcoming spaces thanks to recent upgrades across our library branches, including new furniture, a dedicated library pod at Mornington Library and a striking new mural at Hastings Library.
Created by local artist Daniel Van De Wiel, the mural has transformed the exterior wall of Hastings Library and adds another vibrant piece to the library's Community Art Spaces program.
The upgrades have been designed to make library spaces more comfortable and flexible, whether you're settling in with a book, studying for an exam, catching up on work or simply spending time in a welcoming community space. Families will also notice improvements to children's areas, creating inviting places for young readers to explore stories and discover a love of reading.
Visitors to Mornington Library can now make use of a new library pod, offering a quiet space for online meetings, interviews, telehealth appointments or focused work away from distractions. Bookings are essential, with library members able to reserve the pod for up to two hours at a time. Not a member? Joining is free and easy through our website: library.mornpen.vic.gov.au/join
The improvements sit alongside Mornington Peninsula Shire's Community Art Spaces, which provide local artists with opportunities to exhibit their work and build recognition within the community. These spaces can be found on the exterior wall of Hastings Library, inside the foyer at Mornington Library and at Somerville Central Shopping Centre.
