a free, city-wide event encouraging children to put kindness, gratitude and community spirit into action.

Inspired by the success of his first community initiative, TidyTown 2026, 7-year-old Maurice Maas wanted to create another event where children could come together and do something positive for others.

That idea became the Kindness Treasure Hunt.

Starting at Urban Climb Newstead and finishing at South Bank Parklands, children aged 5-12 will complete a series of challenges while meeting and thanking police officers, firefighters and hospital staff.

Throughout the day, the children will personally deliver 750 appreciation gifts to people who serve the Brisbane community.

One of the highlights will see participating children contribute tin hearts towards a large heart-shaped artwork at the finish line, which will later be presented to the Children's Hospital as a symbol of appreciation from Brisbane's children.

" I wanted the kids to do something nice for the police, firefighters and other people who help everyone," Maurice said.

The event is supported through Brisbane City Council, Do Op Shop and a group of community focussed partners. 7NEWS is expected to cover the event as part of its Sunny Side community segment.

About us:

GenerationKind Australia is a Brisbane-based not-for-profit organisation creating community initiatives that encourage children and families to put kindness, gratitude and community spirit into action.

Founded following the success of young community organiser Maurice Maas' first initiative, TidyTown 2026, GenerationKind develops free, family-focused events that give children the opportunity to make a positive contribution to their community through meaningful real-life experiences.

Its initiatives are built around a simple idea: helping children understand important values not only through words, but by actively practising them.
