Broadband boost for Riddells Creek and Gisborne South

Dept of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications

Up to 775 Victorian homes and businesses in Riddells Creek and Gisborne South now have access to high speed, reliable NBN connectivity following the completion of two new fixed wireless towers.

The towers, one at Gisborne South and the other at the Riddells Creek Recreation Reserve, also continue NBN Co's commitment to complete the local rollout of the network.

The Riddells Creek tower is a co-location arrangement on a Telstra mobile base station and will deliver fixed wireless broadband to up to 575 premises.

The Gisborne South Fixed Wireless tower will service up to 200 premises in its footprint.

Fixed wireless is well-suited to supporting many regional communities, which can be challenging to serve with fixed-line services due to low population densities and challenging topography.

Residents of Riddells Creek and Gisborne South can also look forward to enjoying faster speeds on NBN fixed wireless services in the future, following the Australian Government's recent provision of $480 million in funding towards an upgrade of the entire NBN fixed wireless network.

The upgrade is a key component of the Albanese Government's Better Connectivity for Rural and Regional Australia Plan, which will deliver faster broadband, expand fibre connections and improve safety and productivity by boosting mobile coverage.
