The Broadbeach Cultural Precinct is complete with the second and final stage of the $14.8 million makeover officially opening today.
The Broadbeach Community Space has been extensively renovated and expanded for its two key lessees, Life Education Queensland and Placemakers*, as well as providing a central activity space with a sprung floor, dance mirrors and full AV facilities for the community.
Last month, the adjacent Cultural Centre, formerly known as the Albert Waterways Community Centre, reopened with an additional 1,300m2 of space and upgraded facilities.
"Since opening the first stage last month, we have been inundated with requests for regular activities and events here which shows what a much-loved centre this is,'' Mayor Tom Tate said.
"This precinct will provide the community with creative and social spaces to support our vibrant arts and cultural lifestyle."
The Broadbeach Community Space was originally built by Life Education Queensland in the 1980s.
The precinct has been redeveloped with the addition of a new café, public amenities and more parking. Design and construction work has been completed by Paynters Pty Ltd and Peddle Thorpe Architects.

The centre adds to other major community projects including the Pimpama Sports Hub, Miami Aquatic Centre, Pizzey Skate Park and the new Palm Beach Aquatic Centre (currently underway).
"This centre will be the heartbeat for so many creative industries and will support our city's broader push for greater involvement in the arts,'' Divisional Councillor Pauline Young said.
"It's a great day for the staff here and the wider community and I encourage everyone to come and check out the entire precinct.''
