New community arts workshops will be delivered in Broome thanks to funding from the McGowan Government's Creative Communities COVID-19 Recovery Program.
The Kimberley Arts Network (KAN) will receive $29,800 to present inclusive workshops by local professional artists in photography, fibre/weaving, music and works on paper.
The artists will also have an opportunity to develop their skills by presenting the workshops alongside indigenous artist mentees.
KAN will work with the Broome Community Recovery Centre to open the workshops to the wider community.
KAN is a member-based, volunteer-run organisation that promotes and advances local art practice. It has developed a variety of initiatives such as the Broome Fringe Festival, networking events as well as hosted visiting artists and supported local artists to generate income.
Applications are now open to the Creative Communities program. Initiatives must engage communities and be delivered in partnership with a local government, school or community group.
