Data released today by the Australian Bureau Statistics (ABS) has revealed a 32.2 per cent drop in total dwelling approvals in Victoria across December 2025, more than double the national monthly change.
These figures follow recent Productivity Commission data which confirmed Victoria's public housing stock has increased by just 36 dwellings over the past decade from 64,241 to 64,277.
Under Labor, Victoria has the highest property taxes in the nation as net debt continues to climb by $1.7 million an hour and is expected to reach a record $192.6 billion by 2028-29.
Shadow Minister for Building and Housing, David Southwick, said: "This significant reduction in approvals under Labor means will mean fewer homes, higher prices and less housing choice for Victorians.
"Labor have abandoned their 80,000 new homes a year target and left Victoria's social housing stock to remain virtually unchanged for the past decade.
"Only a Wilson Liberal and Nationals Government will reduce property taxes and give young Victorians the best opportunity to own their own home.
"Labor cannot manage money, cannot manage housing and Victorians are paying the price."
