Building Futures In Tasmania

The Tasmanian Government is committed to delivering real-world industry experience and training pathways for young people in the senior years of schooling.

Minister for Education, Jo Palmer, said through a statewide partnership with Beacon Foundation, the Tasmanian Government is helping to shape the next generation of skilled, confident young Tasmanians.

"Now in its fifth year, these hands-on, engaging work-based learning experiences for students in Years 9-12 are inspiring our young people and sparking lasting change," Minister Palmer said.

"We know work-based learning helps young Tasmanians feel empowered and supported as they prepare for their transition from school to independence.

"Our Government is delivering for Tasmanians by supporting young people to build the skills, confidence and connections they need for the future."

The Work Based Learning Services Impact Report 2025 shows the statewide program is connecting young people with real workplaces, career mentors and practical skills that help them transition from school into employment, training or further study.

Tasmanian construction and civil company Hazel Bros has been a key contributor to the program's success, partnering with Beacon since 2022 to strengthen opportunities for work placements and industry engagement.

"Our Government is delivering the opportunities young Tasmanians need to thrive."
