Council recently concluded Stage 2 community consultation for the Building a Safer Wellington Street project. A report outlining the findings from this consultation and a way forward will be considered by Councillors at the 12 May 2026 Council meeting.
Community engagement for Stage 2 has seen high levels of participation and a significant amount of information is publicly available via Council Meeting Reports and our Community Engagement portal Your Say Yarra (since the 14 May 2024). This includes the community engagement results of phase 1 of the Wellington Street upgrade, socio-economic analysis, the change option concept plans, and traffic volume data.
Additional information will be attached to the 12 May 2026 Council Report. This will include an analysis of the recent phase 2 community engagement, and detailed reports produced by external consultants that consider the potential traffic impacts of the change options put to the community. Council is aware of community interest in these topics and is keen to respond to the feedback it has received.

Given the volume of information to be provided in the upcoming Council report and the level of interest, Council has determined that relevant reports will be made available ahead of the release of the May 12 Council meeting agenda.
